ARTIST STATEMENT

I am currently working with oils and mixed media on a variety of surfaces including canvas and wood.  My work has been evolving over the past few years due to the considerations and constraints of dealing with the coronavirus. I am inspired by the things in nature that surround me and speak to me; that help me to create a moment of calm, peace or introspective thought.

My goal is not to produce a copy of the inspiration, but to interpret them in a way that evokes a feeling of calm, peace or reflection for me; with perhaps a meditative quality during the painting process. My intent is to produce an image that may be relatable to a viewer’s own experiences with nature; and to create a moment for the viewer that may be peaceful or reflective.
